Recovery and a Special Church Service

I think that we have ALMOST recovered from our weekend trip to Temple... our house hasn't, but WE have! : )
Lots of time outside, only Daniel's nose is still red, and no more attempts to get out of the car seat... YEA!!!

On Sunday, when getting ready for church, Matt told me "These shoes are a little tight on Daniel." "OH, no, they're fine, I checked the size!" Well, by the end of Sunday School, Daniel wasn't walking anymore and saying "OUCH!" We took the shoes off and he was fine, just shoeless in church...

Before the service, everyone said "Oh, Daniel gets to do the Palms, how neat!!" I thought, ok, they will just walk up to the front of the church and come back around, sounds cool. Well, they went up to the front of the church (Daniel is still shoeless, but as my Grandmother said "Biblically Accurate") waving their palms, and then stood up there waving them. Daniel did great at first, because he just had his back to everyone pointing at the guitars saying "tar! tar!", and then he started walking in and out of all the other kids, sweeping the floor with his palm... I didn't get him until the song was almost over, and he started walking away... He did good, considering he was the youngest one up there by a year, so what more can you say? He has had his official first "performance" in church! : )

Daniel the Stinker

Today we made a quick trip to Temple, to visit with grandparents... Well, 2 hours into the two and half hour trip, Daniel has decided that he was going to get out of the car seat, and only made it half way out before I stopped him...
STINKER!!!

Our 18 month check up... at 19 months old!

Wow!!!
Can you believe he's THAT old??? hehehehe

The appointment started out really good, when I was able to not only answer yes to every developmental question (Can he climb up on things, can he climb up and down stairs, can he eat with a spoon or fork, can he name body parts, does he have a vocabulary of 10-20 words, ect., ect., ect.) BUT this is all stuff that our little guy has been doing for months! Yea!!!

He is 32 lbs and 34.5 inches. This puts him off the charts (just barely) for weight and in the 90th percentile for height. This means out of 100 kids that are his age, Daniel would be taller than 90 of them, and heavier than all of them, theoretically. : ) Doctor said that he was well on his way to being 6'0" or 6'1"... but I think that's a little short, don't you?

He got three shots today, and has been in great spirits, thankfully! I was scared about this particular shot (the MMR) and things seem really, really good! He's a little fussy, but nothing that a little "Babe" (his favorite movie) won't fix : )

Singing

Singing is Daniel's new favorite thing!
Everytime we are in the car (since we are starting the process of no passy...) and has nothing to do, we sing. He starts singing "me, me, me" and we just sing from there, followed by a big "YEA!!!!" and clapping. He knows "Deep and Wide" now, and moves his hands (the way an 18 month old would). I love it! When he sings his Sunday school songs is when I feel like the best Mommy in the world! : ) (Even though I know it's not all me, but I'd like to think I contributed to this love of music, maybe just a little bit... : )

OUTSIDE!

Daniel's new favorite word (finally, we have a word that beats MINE!) : ) is OUTSIDE! And we actually got to spend some good time outside today! We have been going to the zoo again this past week, and today we just hung around the neighborhood and just played! He kept stealing any ball that wasn't his, (like he didn't have one of his own). He thinks that balls are just the coolest things ever, next to candy, of course. : ) I am SO happy that we are finally able to go back outside and spend some real time wearing out some of the energy... maybe he'll sleep better tonight!
Tomorrow, we are planning on going to the children's science museum. I've been trying to get a picture of him in a child's dr. coat that they have there, but haven't been able to pull it off. His favorite thing was to drive the "choo-choo" (the ambulance, but everything that's big and drives now a days is a choo-choo). : )
We have bought tickets to the opening game of the Texas Rangers... We were able to take him to a couple of games last year with great success, but who knows what this year will bring! : ) We are so excited and can't wait! We love being outside! : )

Fun on my phone

Today I found a way to listen to Matt at work from my phone. I can listen to him on a scanner that I downloaded on my phone. We'll try that tonight when Matt's at work, and see if Daniel puts two and two together. He has enjoyed talking on the phone more and more recently, so maybe he really will get it! : )
Last night was the first time in a few days when Matt was at work during night time. At night, we do bath, pj's, and then we come and hang out in the living room and finish winding down for the night. Then, I get up, take him to Matt who tells him goodnight, I love you, God Bless you, and then we do our bedtime prayers, then sleep. Well, last night, I got up, and Daniel started saying "Dada, Dada, Dada". He knew it was time to tell Daddy goodnight, but he wasn't there. Also, Daniel has started to cry when Matt leaves for work (if he's awake) which is really a new development... He really does love his Daddy, and now he can listen to him when he's gone! : )

Daniel's Favorites

Daniel loves:
To sing his Sunday school songs,
To say AMEN really loud in the middle of prayers,
To sleep with his blanket, blanket bear, and the shirt I wore that day
To name everyone in the pictures I have hanging in my hallway
To watch the movie "Babe" and name all the animals that show up on the screen
To put the remote in my hand and yell "PIG PIG PIG!!!!" to get to watch "Babe"
To read Daddy's sports magazines, just to find the balls
To play with the neighbor kids his age
To climb in and out of his high chair~ by himself
To eat anything SWEET
To go anywhere, anytime, as long as he's going
To make me happy

: )
